Kara Willis-McCollum was born and raised in Houston,Texas. She’s a TV reporter, anchor, mentor, public speaker and proud owner/founder of The Ladies Brunch Houston- a group for women to empower, uplift and inspire all women through personal and professional development. She started a news career in Beaumont, Texas as a morning reporter and fill-in anchor in 2020 at KBMT, 12NewsNow before moving on to KIAH in Houston, TX as a morning reporter, anchor and fill-in traffic anchor in March 2023.

The K Spot was an idea created before Kara started her TV news career to be a full representation of Houston-from it’s culture, its history, politics and more. She wanted to create a digital platform that would bring light to issues and concerns from Houstonians and to give a voice to the voiceless.
